Electric showers only take water from the mains cold water supply and heat it as you use it. When you have a shower, you don't use any stored hot water so electric showers are ideal for households where there is a limited supply of hot water.

 Mixer showers take water from both the hot and cold water supply to provide the required temperature and are ideal for homes with a plentiful supply of hot water. On gravity systems a pump can be added to boost the performance of your shower. Digital showers which use a processor installed in a separate location to mix the water are also available.

Power showers take water from the low pressure stored hot and cold water supplies. They mix the hot and cold to reach the desired temperature and then boost the flow of water from the shower using an integral pump to provide a more forceful spray. You should not use a power shower with a high pressure or mains pressure water system.
